  1. Speech recognition or voice input in 
  2. computing, is any technique by which a 
  3. computer can understand ordinary speech.  
  4. Spoken words are divided into `frames', each 
  5. lasting about one-thirtieth of a second, 
  6. which are converted to a wave form. These are 
  7. then compared with a series of stored frames 
  8. to determine the most likely word.
